As California faces unprecedented attacks from the Trump Administration, we need leaders who don’t just give us empty rhetoric, but have the record of overcoming these challenges, and the lived experience to understand them.
From Mayor, to Cabinet Secretary, to the State Senate, Anna Caballero is trailblazing woman of firsts. Born to a family of copper miners, she learned early in life the value of hard work, the power of collective action, and that every dollar counts.
Anna became the first female Mayor of Salinas, after spending a career representing farm workers as an attorney in rural California. As Mayor Anna created a seat at the table for all residents to participate, balanced the city’s budget, built home ownership opportunities, and reduced violent crime using a nationally recognized community policing strategy.
As California cities face rising deficits, homelessness, and concerns about public safety, Anna has a proven record of addressing these challenges.

Anna has led on tackling the most pressing challenges California faces, by bringing people together to make government work effectively and efficiently. Anna authored the Middle Class Housing Act, to help families achieve the dream of home ownership, increased funding for police, fire, and homeless services, and wrote the Distressed Hospital Loan Program to help struggling hospitals keep their doors open and ensure that healthcare is affordable and accessible.

Anna was honored to be appointed by Governor Jerry Brown to serve as Secretary of State and Consumer Services (SCSA), now the Business, Consumer Services and Housing Agency.
As Secretary, Anna oversaw 16,000 state employees and a 27 billion dollar budget, where she expanded affordable housing, protected Californian consumers and seniors from financial scams, fraud, and price gouging, and enforced civil rights laws.

In 2018 Anna won a long held Republican State Senate seat stretching from the Central Coast to the Central Valley, and she did it by meeting folks at their kitchen tables and in their communities. And while Anna has won numerous awards for her work in public service, they don’t mean nearly as much to her as the thousands of families she has met, represented and fought for along the way.

In the State Senate, Anna authored America’s first legislation to oversee the safe removal of carbon dioxide, the largest Small Business recovery aid package in the country, increased protections for children whose parents work in agricultural production, and championed the nation’s very first reproductive choice support fund to ensure all women can safely receive reproductive care.
California is diverse, vibrant, and has many needs. Anna has shown that she leads with integrity, persistence, and creativity. She knows how to get things done. As Californians look into an uncertain future with Trump’s attacks on California, rising costs, concerns about retirement security, public safety, and questions about the affordability of homeownership and energy, Anna’s running for State Treasurer to ensure that California continues to be a place where everyone is welcome and everyone can achieve the California Dream.
